So I want to build a media PC

I kinda got the itch to try this out. I do not really need it, but what the heck. Here is what I have so far
My PC is a Shuttle XPC SN41G2
Sound Card Fortissimo II
Using onboard video at the moment but may use an AGP card that I have.
Also going to get a remote for the shuttle

Here is what I am thinking. I have a bunch of MP3's I would like to be able to play through the stereo speakers. Should be easy enough right, but I would also like to be able to record tv shows on it. Not live though. I have a dishnetwork DVR that I use to record TV shows and movies, but there is only so much that HD can hold, so I would like to be able to record from the DVR to the PC and then burn them to DVD for later enjoyment. What other equipment do I need? I found this Will it do the job? Then how do I hook all this up? At this point I am kinda stuck. If anyone can be so kind as to show me the way, I would be very grateful! Thanks in advance.

You're going to have to get a video card with video in. You don't have enough PCI slots for a seperate capture card if you keep the sound card. You can get a lot of related info off of the home theatre computer forum here:

Well, I certainly am no expert, but have been tinkering with a similar project.
I am not sure what kind of outputs your DVR has but I would bet that you will still need to feed the output to another recorder in your media PC, something like this.

the sound quality of your nForce 2 chipset should be pretty good by itself (with an nVidia APU)

why not forget the audio card and get a decent ATI TV Wonder? that's my humble opinion
