So I wanna connect my PC to a projector...

I bought an Infocus LP350 projector to connect to my computer (Vid card is a Nvidia 8800 gts 640mb). I bought a cable to connect from the VGA of the projector cable to the DVI of my video card. I know the computer detects the projector because when i plug it in it seems by desktop expands, however nothing is displayed through the projector, only on my monitor. I'm unable to do anything when i plug in the projector because it seems as though my monitor only gets the left half of the desktop, meanwhile the projector only displays the right side (but isnt poppin up, god i hope that makes sense) Any reason as to why my computer isn't being displayed thru the projector?

ok im lookin at my cables, im goin from vga (the projector) to dvi (my video card)... i noticed my computer monitor is dvi-a... the cable i bought for the projector is vga to dvi-D.... could that be the problem? do i need to get one that goes from vga to dvi-a?

Yes, that sound correct, assuming the DVI input on your projector can accept an analog signal. Check it first before spending any more money.

If a DVI-I (dual link) cable isn't that much more I'd go that way. You could re-use in the future with almost any setup.

thats the other thing... I'll set my resolution to 800 X 600 because i know thats supported, then when i plug in both my monitor and the projector the resolution automatically gets set to the native resolution (1680 X 1050)... im gonna try a dvi-a cable and see what happens :x
