so latelty my new system is been unstable , restarting when multitasking and when opening games. my games just open and crash but sometimes the system restarts and sometimes it doesnt. so i talk to my tech friend and comes oever checks things out and he figures i have mem issues , i figured this too. he told me to update my bios see what happends , so i did. i used a program called winflash to update my bios so yepppy it updates and tells me if i want to reboot , i hit yes. it restarts but it doesnt start up nomarlly(loading up the os and all) it boots loading up MEMtest everysingle time and i dont know how to get this off. so everytime i start the computer memtest runs EVERYTIME. some things i tried is hitting ESC when my system booots and what comes up is bios saying choose your loading device ( hd,dvd/cdrw ect) i hit hd thinking it would maybe load os instead of memtest , but it doesnt i hit enter for hd but it still loads memtest.

also one more thing i let memtest run for like 25 mins and got 16 errors (figured).

any help is appreciated , thanks.

Memtest is built into their new bios's. you have to turn it off in the genie bios menu (I think thats what its called, its the one in the top left 😉 )

yea but i cant get in regular bios it comes up with some select boot up device....something like that when i press ESC.

When the system is booting (when you see the picture that says nf4 or something like that) hit delete to enter the bios.

flashing BIOS is unlikely to address memory problems.

I don't understand the methodology here???

I suggest re-flashing your BIOS to a version without the annoying memtest thingy (use DOS flash utility and select boot from floppy)

once you have this done.... troubleshoot the problem........... your memory

Regarding those Memtest errors, I do not have a DFI board with the built-in feature, but you might want to check to see which version of Memtest86 is being run by your DFI BIOS. My memory was showing errors using the old Memtest86 3.2, but no errors are showing using the new Memtest86+ 1.55. I would suggest you start with the new and improved Memtest86+ 1.55 located at www.memtest.org! It is based on the well-known original memtest86 written by Chris Brady located at www.memtest86.com. The old Memtest86 3.2 does not have the more recent updates provided by Memtest86+ 1.55. The programs are otherwise fairly identical in features. Both are freeware. The new one appears to have better support and frequent updates. It is possible your memory is still defective, but try this new version for a more definitive clue. Good luck.

Btw what bios version are you using? Version 3/10 has fixed most if not all memory problems associated with the mobo.

Also, visit this site if you ever have trouble with your motherboard. There are two DFI employees that work on that site that can help you out.

i have that memory right now and i think i have 3/10.

Ewat, while I think it is great DFI has chosen Memtest86+ over Memtest86 to include in their BIOS revision, you might want to double check for sure because DFI's latest BIOS is dated 03/10 and Memtest86+ 1.55 was only just released on 03/28. On 03/10, Memtest+ 1.51 was the most current version.
