So I tried to pencil trick my 1ghz Tbird...

But it didn't work! This is nuts. I've done it before several times on other CPUs. Anyone know why it wouldn't work? Wrong pencil maybe? Does that make a difference?
 
Yeah, some pencils have to much clay in them to work well, it's the HB leads in the #2 pencils that work best but I always used a mechanical pencil myself. Others use the rear window defogger repair kit ink to do it permantly so they don't have to worry about unlocking it again.
 
Throw away the @#@#@ng pencils and go get a conductive pen. It still amazes me that sooo many ding witties used pencils on their processors even thow "it worked" for alot of people. what a half ass mod....

hey, if it works then why spend that money to buy a conductive pen when you always have a #2 pencil lying around? 🙂

yeah
never have i needed to redo them either
the most i do, if i feel like it (and if its available), is put clear tape on top to prevent erosion....if there even is any...

ive done it to my own tbird with a trace pen, ONLY becuase it was more readily available than a pencil (can ya believe that? lol)

Ok guys, I appologize for the reply I posted. It was out of line and a bit too opinionated. I normally don't run my mouth as such on a forum, guess I was just in the wrong mood at the time.
