is this in my head? I heard some get addicted after one puff. I'm not necessarilly craving the nicotine... more the act of breathing in through a cigarette. I guess I just liked the feeling.

Anyway, so as long as I stay away I should be good?

Wow...you're like that guy in high school who's always talking about drugs and hanging out with the druggies, and then they give him some powdered sugar and tell him it's coke just to watch him act "high".

Either this is a joke thread or you are like 14, one or the other. Because either way you are not having any sort of fvcking reaction or craving from taking a puff. A full fledged cigarette addiction (which I now have) takes a *while* to start. If you've never smoked and you smoke a pack (or hell a carton or two) you still aren't going to crave a cigarette whenever you turn on the ignition to your car or finish eating a big meal. Not trying to encourage you to start smoking cigarettes by any means, but I'm just being realistic here.

And if your gf smokes, so what? Most of the self righteous on this board never get any anyways, so saying "I wouldn't ever date a smoker" doesn't exactly affect you too much anyways. Smoking a cig does not change who the person is.

I've tried it before.
IMO, it's a good experience just to know how it's like, just don't make a habit of it.
It takes some skill to smoke it. If you just inhale it, the smoke is too hot for a n00b to handle. What you do is suck in the smoke into your mouth, and move your tongue around to cool down the smoke, and then suck it in slowly.
If you really smoke it right, you'll get extremely light headed, and your body will feel super relaxed.

You just described physical dependency vs psychological addiction. And it's proven that nicotine creates a physical dependency, so either you can read up or continue to be ignorant on the subject.

But am I OK? I haven't been able to stop coughing at all this morning, and my throat is really dry...

Get your right lung checked for cancer. NOW!

Are you serious?

Then you aren't totally stupid. :)

I've smoked like 6 cigars in the past 10 years (first one was after somebody had a baby, so I figured I'd give it a shot). I never inhaled the smoke, just puffed on them, but I STILL crave cigars even though they taste awful and make my mouth feel gross for days.

Doing something you know is bad just because somebody talks you into it is stupid, but it's what humans do. If you were to keep trying them in order to get used to them so you could handle being around the girl when she smoked and participate with her, that'd be downright moronic.

Didn't know you could get them without the nicotine, but without that, what's the point of smoking at all? All the poison, none of the stimulant! That's worse than non-alchoholic beer.

Oh yeah, Black & Milds are great, I love pipe tobacco because it reminds me of my favorite uncle.
