So I took my galaxy s4 out of its case after like three months.

Have to say the phone just feel and look so much better without it. I can't decide whether to take off the case and run the phone off naked with its full glory.

Do you use cases with your phone. I am not really that clumsy, but I am pretty OCD about cosmetic damages.

I put the thinnest case possible on my S4. It's nice naked, but it's not so nice with dings and scratches.

Try going without for a while. You may start to see cases as the equivalent of that plastic some people's grandparents put over their furniture.

I'd sooner not have it than obscure the sleek beauty that is the Note 3. I wouldn't cover up an S4 either. Just be careful with your phone as you always should be. Having some extra plastic stuck all over it isn't really a license to be clumsy with it -as some believe- either.

I will take dings and scratches every time before ugly ass case. It's not like I'm gonna use a phone for more than 2 years.
Of course, I use Nokia. If I had a Samsung, I might consider a case since personally I don't like their design.

if you plan to resell your phone, obviously go with a case. if not, the decision is up to you. accidents are accidents.

I stopped regularly using cases a few years ago and just practiced not being clumsy / sensing hazards instead. Much more effective and in turn I have a leaner phone.

That said, I do have an Otterbox in the trunk to slap on for when I go cycling or out with the GF/group (for group photographs).

I've never used a case ever on any of my phones until recently as I dropped a phone by accident and cracked the screen. It was annoying so I am now using a case.

I'm so torn with cases. I like keeping the phone looking new for resale value, but typically hate cases.

I think Apple solved the problem for me though. They made their new phones way too thin and squared off. I think they're borderline uncomfortable to hold without a case. So I put a case on the iPhone 5 and 5S. If I had a 5C, I probably wouldn't use a case.

And I'm using a swanky wallet case, this one:

So I've left the wallet at home so I think it's turned in to a win-win for me.

You should want a case even if it is a minimal case, so it raises the lip of the glass, so your phone does fall exactly on its edge damaging the glass.

The S4 needs the faux leather back like the Note 3. That hyper glaze ugliness is a slimy finger print magnet. The "Black Edition" S4 is the way it should've been from the get go.

In fact, if faux leather back is available then I would sell my Note 3 for the S4. I run my phones naked and the faux leather back cover is perfect for that.

Yeah, I alternate between a Spigen Neo Hybrid case and naked a lot with my GS4. I prefer without the case but when I'm doing something that increases my chances of dropping the phone or if I know someone else will be handling it, then it goes back into the case.

The GS4 is a sleek, compact and light phone so putting it in a case just makes it feel rather bulky.

Damn - can anyone tell me what option is black? I'm actually tempted as I really don't like the back on my work S4.

It's weird - I'm ok using my S4 with a Mime Feather Glass screen protector only, but find the Note 3 to look a little weird with the same setup. For some reason, I much prefer the S-view case + Feather Glass on my Note 3, even though it's much slimmer with the standard back and doesn't give much impact protection.

I never use cases. Well I did once, but that was a work phone that was going to be returned as I was leaving the company.

Cases are ugly, my phones are always naked.

I'm normally between speigen neo hybird, a slim silicone case and going naked. On my s4. I'm not clumsy but random stuff does happen. My cases did take a few minor 3 feet drops.

I had no problem selling my S3 and Note 2, both in mint condition, never a case on either. Just like others have said, take up a mindset of not endangering it ever and always knowing where it is.

I've heard people say things like, "I use a case so when I pick up my toddler in one arm and use the phone with the other..."

No, see that'd be a situation for me where the phone stays put until my kid is safely staying put out of my arms.

You can probably find a million and one battery doors for the S4 on eBay or amazon. I bought several alternative battery doors for my Note 2 that gave it a much better grip. When it came time to sell it, the original door was unused mint condition and the extras were just a nice bonus for its new owner.

Haven't replaced the N3 back though... I like the faux leather a lot and haven't seen anything that looks and feels better.

Currently have a very minimalist case on my Moto X, but I'm outdoors a lot and dropping it on rocks is a real risk. I had a Moto Droid and then a Galaxy S2, both caseless, and never damaged them.

Scratching the screen from sand in my pockets is much more of a concern than drops, generally.

I've got a very thin little $3 TPU skin on my Note 2. It serves two basic functions for me. The sides of the case have a very bumpy texture that help get a good grip (important in winter when I'm wearing fleece gloves) and it adds a tiny bit of lip around the screen. That way when I place the device face down it's glass isn't sitting right on the surface. It's easier to pick up, hold, and offers a basic amount of protection to the screen.

I'd wait if I was you, they'll probably start turning up on eBay or amazon soon.

Edit: They are up for pre order now on expansys uk.
