I have to get from Sac'to to Berkeley and back today. The store I have to go to is open till 9:00. I'd prefer to get there sooner rather than later. When should I leave in order to minimize traffic congestion? It almost sounds like a math problem :)

East Bay people need to help me out :)

BTW traffic going north on 80 is a bitch at 4:00 - 7:30. If you can leave now that would be the best time.

You should leave right now if you can. Traffic will be a problem on the way back, so if you can get here by 2 and out of this area by 3 or 4 you should avoid most of it. If not, you can leave later and wait for the traffic to die down. 80 West at rush hour isn't that bad, but the 80 East will be bad because of the people who commute home frmo SF.

I agree. leave now if you can, i think both ways on the 80 will be bad. plus you can use that extra carpool lane before 3.
