im happy with the tv and all, but the problem is it doesnt go over 1024x780 or whatever it is. so some of my games, like team fortress 2, were set by me earlier to open at say 1280 resolution, so when i try to open the game i get a black screen on the monitor and it says "vga 4 mode not supported" in the top left. i then tried to open command and conquer generals and it worked fine as it had been set to a default 1024 resolution. i tried changing it to 1152 just to see what would happen and make sure i was right about the resolution being the reason tf2 would not open.

the problem is, i WAS right and i got that message again. i cant figure out any way to CHANGE the resolution it opens at without opening the program and going into options or settings or whatever and setting the program(s) at 1024. problem is, i CANT open them anymore cause the resolution is too high!

so what i need is a way to set the default resolution of a program to open at 1024, and to do so WITHOUT having to open the program itself. like go into program files or something. i tried searching around in program files but couldnt find anything :(

help me please! :/

Well unless the progam stores that information in an INF file you can't do much. I suggest you find yourself an old CRT and hook it up. The CRT will support the higher resolution, though thext will be very small. But it will give you the chance to cahnge the settings in the applications.

Now what TV are you using that is leaving you suck at 1024x768? HD TVs should go much higher then that. Even the 780i TVs can do better. Sounds like you need to go back to using a regular CRT or LCD monitor.

720p monitor - 1360 x 768

1080p - 1920 x 1080

i think TV LCD's prefer to be run at native resolutions. i have a 27" Samsung,
always run it at 720p resolution, runs good.

What type of TV are you using? That sounds close to the resolution of a 720p plasma (1024x768). If you're trying to use a plasma with your computer, it's going to look horrible.

Yeah, that sounds like it to me. Sounds like your using a Plasma tv.
