So, I saw this 700 Horsepower Motorcycle Today

I didn't think anything of it, but a crowd gathered around it. So I walk up, it's got lots of shiny stuff, including a skull with it's mouth open on the front. I overhear the following from the guy:

  • 540ci motor. For those like myself, who like our measurement systems like we like our cars (European), that's 8.8 litres!
  • 700 Horsepower and 700 ft\lb of torque
  • 650 ft\lb or more of torque from 2100 to 6100rpm
  • 2 forward gears in the transmission. 1st gear pulls to 149mph
  • A similar bike did a dyno quarter mile in 5.8s @ more than 230mph
  • 1600lbs
  • Faster in a straight line than a Hayabusa
  • Can't turn
  • About $50,000
  • Sheered the driveshaft because he put on a tire with too much grip
  • 4 Brembo Rotors

After he finished talking, he started it up and I watched the bike jump sideways, and the frame flex as he gave it power and instantly spun the wheel enough to make white smoke. All this in under a second.

BMW didn't build it so it sucks. No replacement for the ultimate driving machine.

Aside from a need to capitalize the mantra "Ultimate Driving Machine(TM)" I agree. BMW bikes are hot sex. Saab's new bikes look like good competitors though.

My grandpa built a Boss Hoss ~8 years ago. It had a 350 ci Chevy small block and could churn out an honest 300 hp. that thing kicked ass, and he drove it everywhere.
