To all the people that did not like the movie: Read the story. Its short, and you can possibly find a version with pictures. ;)

Minority Report looked good, but that was about it. Too bad too because it had one of best concepts to grace the screen in a long time, but Spielberg blew it.
Vanilla Sky is a good movie, but it's actually a remake of the 1997 Spanish film, Abre los Oyos (Open your Eyes).

I wouldn't call a technical mistake a plot-hole...

plot holes are when something is brought up.... and then discarded.... creating a HOLE in the PLOT.

for example: a movie follows this one character, believing he is going to commit a murder. In the end no murder is committed, and no mention of the murder is made, anywhere near the ending, or even beginning half-way thru... the murder is then a plot-hole. WHERE DID IT GO... WHAT HAPPENED??

mistakes are not plot holes.

Ok it's been a while since I've seen it so this may have been covered... but doesn't the whole precog business go out the window when the 3 die? What if they couldn't be replaced?

Yes. I too was disappointed by this movie. It seemed like the glitzy "technology" was there just for show. Like engraving the victim/perpetrator names on little glossy wooden balls and have them roll through a big transparent tube. How lame is that? And that whole method of using the light-up gloves to move around the pretty pictures... come on. And how the drainage tube from the "temple" bath somehow leads right to the parking garage. And the best of all is that his old eye still granted him access to the building. Like they wouldn't have removed him from the access control system as soon as he became a murder suspect.

I guess I'm just getting old, but SFX and big-name actors just aren't enough for me anymore. The story has to be at least SOMEWHAT believable and the futuristic technology at least needs to seem somewhat utilitarian instead of being just a glitzy ooh-ahh fest.

And to top it all off I accidentally bought the full-frame version... GRRR!!!

l2c

my sentiments, as well

I have a problem with the "set up" against Cruise's character.
Cruise would have never been in that room to kill the guy if he hadn't been led there by the Pre-Cog in the first place. How do you "set up" something like that? It's a paradox.

And, since it ended up being a suicide, the Pre-Cog should never have seen it, right?

Nice toyish background sets, but that isn't good enough to make it a great movie.

The Fast and The Ridiculous had to be the dumbest movie I've seen in a while..with the exception of xXx. I even watched part of Pitch Black last night and I promised myself that I will avoid watching any movie from now on that has Vin "Can't act his way out of a paper bag" Diesal in a starring role from now on.

Except the only similarities between the short story and the movie are the name of its protagonist and the notion that a crime system has been built around precognitives who are able to see a crime committed in the future.

And that the short story is a lot stronger material than the film. Minority Report has some good sequences and great visuals, but I really don't care for the third act.

Here ya go. 77 mistakes 'plot holes'

>"The time period of the movie is 2054. There is an election day (April 22nd) that is on a billboard and then announced as a Tuesday. However, April 22nd, 2054 is actually on a Wednesday"<

That ruined the whole film for me!

It was ok. Seemed a little too predictable for my liking though.

Obviously this picture isn't as good as Bladerunner when it comes to scifi, but I think it was entertaining, if not just for the sake of watching "Law and Order 2054";)

I am not a simple man, but a simple movie doesn't have to disappoint. I will have to agree about the plot holes though, they were numerous and left the movie-goer a little disapointed.

One question, ...how the hell did his wife GET THE EYE BACK?

and WHAT THE HELL happened to the DA? Seems like he disapeared but then again the old guy still "planted" the gun

This was my problem with Minority Report. The concept was so good that it should have been as good as Blade Runner, especially in the mighty Spielberg's hands. Unfortunately, the end result was formulaic crap disguised with big budget special effects and cinematography. Very disapointing.

why didn't the precogs see the murder of the D.A. he was killed after the chick was returned, right?

My prob with films like this is, if they see the murder in the future, and the police go to stop it, then the murder can't happen, thus the precogs wouldn't see it and the police wouldn't go stop it, thus it would happen and on and on, and be just another paradox.

The wife got John's eye back when she got the box full of his personal belongings. Yeah, I think it was a big plot hole.

Goosemaster, I find as I get older, that the simpler movies are the ones that please me the most.
Great acting, great script, solid storyline is what makes a great movie for me; not special effects or complexity.

Although, when all added together, you get the greatest cinemetography effort ever; Apocalypse Now

I liked it. But I found this is one of those movies that people either liked or hate. Some people just can not get past the intrusive precog part of the movie. Like any other Sci Fi movie you got to suspend normal Rules for the duration it is hard for some people.

Willing suspension of disbelief is hard to do the older I get but for the kids sake I try:)
