So I saw an idiot today who could NOT park his Expedition

It looked like a brand new one, and this guy could NOT park it. And no it wasn't a complicated situation. He had curb space with no obstructions or other parked cars. He simply couldn't put it next to the curb.

I pulled up as he was trying to straighten out despite the fact that he was up on the curb by a good foot. I quickly parked, and the continued to watch him as he unsuccessfully got off the curb. He then pulled completly out, circled around the block, came back in for another attempt. This time he was not able to get close to the curb, despite the fact that he had all the room in the world. He finally pulled out, circled again and got it right.

His teenage son, riding shotgun, was looking very very embarrassed.

lol

Haven't parallel parked since my road test, no real need/opportunity around here, but I think I could still do it. I love the number of people who can't back their car up at all. I love backing mine into spaces now so I can look at my new front end 🙂.

Do what I do in that situation.....laugh and point. 😀

Seriously, if you can't drive a big vehicle, DON'T BUY ONE!!! I can't count the number of times I've seen people in huge cars take out curbs, mailboxes, etc because they couldn't figure out how to drive something so big.

They seriously should have a separate license for driving SUV's that big.

What gets me is they're not that big. The Expedtition is nothing but an F-150 with a cap on it.

But that's what makes them and unneccessary SUV and evil and, and need to be banned and only yuppie mom's drive them and therefore need to be banned and only morons drive them when everyone knows that they should just be driving a civic. Civics for everyone I tell ya, that's what we need.

Right, but you're a northern MI guy......anything short of a Kenworth is normal to you. 😛

actually, a long time ago, before the explorer, before the bronco II, Ford had an SUV the size of the expedition called the Bronco. 🙂

hehehe, that's funny. i saw a lady who couldn't park her huge SUV, once. 🙂

which reminds me of the commercial they had where the lady couldn't close the rear hatch on an very large SUV. I think it was a subaru commercial. 🙂

I do feel that a lot of truck/SUV drivers have trouble "feeling" the far-side of the car. I think the proportions of the car make them feel that it is a lot wider/longer than it really is.

how about the guy that forgets to put the word "is" in his sentence?

I remember last year when my parents were visiting me here at Pitt. I was driving dad's Explorer because I'm the only one who remotely knows the area. At that point I'd never parallel parked anything other than my little Accord, but I got the Explorer into a space that was only about three foot longer than the vehicle and ended up just a couple inches away from the curb. The only thing my dad said was, "I didn't think we'd fit". 🙂

Moronic driver are everywhere. Someone probably have a better chance of survival after being hit a moron in civic, rather than a moron in expedition though.
