Diet soda for me. Diet t Pepsi is my caffeine in the morning. I drink tons of water too, but I go through diet sodas daily. Somewhere to the tune of at least 64 oz/day. I've never actually tried to quit. I've got bigger things to try and quit (chewing). Just not mentally ready to give it a go. Lately though, I've gotten into a drink called Ice I think. Basically carbonated flavored water. They're really good.

Well, how is it going?
Did I mention I should quit too? (As I suck down a 12 oz can of Pepsi at break time)

Aside from home made smoothies and the occasional raw apple cider or milk, the only thing I drink is water. Especially when eating anywhere other than home, just water. Simple and easy philosophy to live by. Diet soda is a sham fooling people into thinking it's not so bad because it doesn't have "sugar".

Still going. And I went to a restaurant with my dad this morning and ordered tea. I was able to say no to soda.

Well the cravings are starting to disappear and it has been 9 days without drinking soda. Of course I am not out of the woods yet.

Let me take your mind off of the soda. What computer do you want to build in 3 years? What are the specs? Are there things on your current computer, that you could upgrade, so that you don't need to buy a whole new one, 3 years down the line?

What platform / socket are you currently on? Do you have an SSD? What size? (I have some 120GB ones, I could send you one if you don't have one yet.)

I'm currently experimenting with Linux Mint 19 on my Ryzen 2200G APU. If I can get it working long-term stably, I might build some 200GE rigs for F&F next month. Or not, I have to pay my Mom back.

Right now my current rig specs are:

i5-4670 3400 Mhz
16GB of DDR3
Two 1TB Crucial M500 SSDs
DVD-RW
Geforce 970
Seasonic 550G PSU
Dell 3014 30" 2560x1600p display
AZIO Retro mechanical Keyeboard
Manjaro Linux installed
Built in 2013

Three years is just a placeholder and I might wait up to another five years depending on my needs and how much money I have then. But this is what I'm shooting for the next build
in three years:

8c/16t CPU
32GB of memory
Two 2TB SSDs(at least)
Nice GPU either AMD or Nvidia depending
New PSU
Maybe a professional keyboard
Keep current display

Damn. Your current 2013 is like super rig compared to mine. I'm still living with 4gb ram, 120 gb SSD, and Dell 2001FP 20" 1600x1200 display.

If it helps you feel better my Thinkpad T430 only has 4GB ram, 500GB HDD, and 1366x768 display.

I am thinking ordering some books by the end of this month as an award to myself for quitting soda.

Sodas are not expensive if you have them on sale ($10 for 4 packs of 12 cans (12 oz) of Coke as example) but they are not good for your health at all. I am trying to cut back from my daily 1-2 cans per day bad habit.

I rarely drink alcohol and not into coffee but the sweet taste of regular (not diet) sodas are addicting.

I was addicted to diet soda. I had to force myself off of it.

Well it has been two weeks now without any soda and I'm feeling great.
Well done, I did 5 weeks before falling off the wagon earlier this year and have not got back on since. My failed experience...dont have "just one", I did that....didnt taste as nice as I remembered and thought, I could probably drink one every now and then without becoming addicted again, within a week i was back on the soda-heroin and I havent got back off it since. First few dont seem that nice, dont feel love for it....then boom, 6 cans a day or whatever.

Speaking of falling off the wagon, I forgot to bring my tea with me to a one on one session and end up buying a 2L bottle of soda.... I drink maybe a quarter of it by the time I got home and put in the fridge. I'm drinking tea now. Bummer I can't believe I forgotten my tea....

Damn, 6 cans a day?

I will whole heartedly admit I'm addicted to sodas, but I can only handle about 1 a day, maybe 2 if i'm under a lot of stress.
