so I played poker at a casino last night....

Lifer
and it was HELLA FUN!! I played from 6 till 12 oclock at night, and made 25 bucks 😀😀

the game was 2/4 texas holdem... and the nice thing is you dont play against the casino, instead you take money off other people

Thumbs up for texas holdem. Never played in a casino, but very fun with a table of friends.

Was alcohol present during these activities? if so

mmm I wanted to be sober... so no

but it was a real fun experience... first time playing poker at a casino

How much money did you go in with? I've been considering hitting up the new poker room at the Greektown Casino, but don't feel that it'd be "worth" it going in there with less than a few hundred.

I started with $100, and it can go a really long ways! the thng with 2/4 is you keep fluctuating... the most I was up is 60 bucks, and I was down by 60 as well... in the end I got 25 bucks in profit

 for a fellow Mo-towner.

I played the 2/4 tables at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, MN (20 min south of Minneapolis) about a week and a half ago... Lost $60...

The people who sit at those tables are morons... I rarely raised preflop with monster hands cause the with the limit betting you can't get junk hands out... Many a time my AKs was butchered by someones 69os with a junk flop...

I'll never play 2/4 limit again...

ummm u should play low limit poker very conservatively... that is only play really good hands, and realize that pocket aces can loose!

I had kk and aa, and I lost to a stupid straight... but I knew that my pocket pairs werent good enough.. so I didnt play after the flop

Yeah it's hard to bully someone around in limit hold'em. In NL, you can intimidate them once you think your winning hand is profitable enough.

poker is fun. i bought myself a cheap set on ebay... but haven't found enough people to set up a game yet.

Anyone who "can't play with morons" doesn't understand that it's all about the long run. Sure, 68o will beat KKs when it hits a straight once in a blue moon, but if they aren't making bets in accordance with pot and implied odds, they will not win in the long run.

most people that play limit hold'em at the casino the first time aren't playing with pot odds and implied odds either...

I'll never play 2/4 limit again...

You do not raise to get other hands out. It is to put more money in the pot.

yeah but the main reason to raise preflop in low limit is to put more money in the pot..

I do this when I haev the big slick or high pocket pairs... It only costs me $2, but I can get more in return...

It's true, but if they are catching cards like crazy, then I just tend to let them play and I go play elsewhere. I play with friends who do that and I know that in the long run, they WILL lose, but if they are catching cards like crazy that one particular night, then I just don't play with them.

I used to go to Canterbury, but then only 18 year old high school punks play there and I never win anymore. Even 3/6 is mostly on the draw of the cards now instead of real strategy. I'd suggest you hit up their tournaments instead. Every now and then they have tournaments which are about $50 buy in with $10 pay, which isn't too bad. Better get there early though, cuz it sells out by 5pm (the time they say you can start to buy). I just mostly play with a small group of friends now. It's more fun and it's more about having fun instead of trying to make money. Most I've lost was around $30 in one night.

people in the big blind usually calls when the raise is onyl 2 bucks... after all its only 2 more to see the flop!!
