My wife had weekend classes, and was ticked to find out that most of the perimeter of campus (CSULB) was blocked off for the marathon. She (and many others) were late for class.

Congrats for participating.

Yup...and I hope you're not too attached (ha!) to your toenails...

[Edit] Oh, looks like you already did it

Welp, next time, look into Astro Glide

also wait till you get blister UNDER your toenails!:p now those are fun:thumbsup:. but ive talked with many ultra runners and if you get the right shoe along with the right socks toenails falling off shouldnt be a problem. the OP should go to a specialty running store and have them pick out shoes for him. all the good stores will watch you run on a treadmill and theyll know how to adjust it on how you run

Depends on your foot type...

Though FWIW, my last three pairs of running shoes have been New Balance :)

More companies need to make shoes in variable widths

Bag Balm, before tape, would help.

http://www.bagbalm.com/

awesome for any chapped/sore cracked etc body parts.

This stuff works, and, I knew a Marthon runner 25 years ago,
that told me about Bag Balm. He said he used it on his feet, hands,
elbows/knees, and before a long run would put some on his nipples.

I was like Huh?

I do some auto repair work, for fun,
and on my G/F car, etc...

My hands, and elbows, especially this time of year, dry out and crack.
Bag Balm really helps, Very much.

Do you have special underwear for the vaseline? I would figure regular cotton underwear would eventually let it through and have it drip down your legs.

Is there nothing to personal to talk about here?
Just for the record, no one, and I mean NO ONE is interested in what you need to do to your nipples, and greasing your shorts should NEVER be mentioned.

I'd assume it could be common for some marathon runners.

As a jetskier, I can tell you that long runs.........(though I've never done it myself, there are certainly times I wish I had)............like going from Long Beach to Catalina, or Parker Dam to Davis Dam on the Colorado river it would be well advised to consider such an option. A nylon life vest literally "sanding" away at your nipples can be BEYOND painful by the end of the day.

Same with a nylon bathing suit with the constant up/down style of riding (similar to a true horse rider). It's simply a matter of wear & tear in a repetitive act.

FWIW, if I had the problem running one marathon, you can bet I'd be doing something about it on the next one!!!
