so i need some walkin shoes

ok Ive been walking on concrete *a lot* lately for exercise. Where I work outside I dont have anything to do, so I like to walk a couple hours while Im there, and when I dont work I head downtown a day or two a week and like to walk a few miles.

I had some cheapish sketchers that have been ok, but theyre wearing out and my feet are getting sore and tired sooner and sooner with them. What are some good shoes to do some hard walkin in? I dont be running...I dont run. I have the ability to flee if something is drunker or slower than me, thats it, so if theres some good shoes geared towards heavy walking, thatd be good.

Any suggestions?

My current pair of NB's are 5+ years old and the sole and insole are still in good shape.

Do your feet a favor. Go to a QUALITY shoe store, have your feet measured properly, then try on a few pairs of the better grades of New Balance. (800 series or higher) Odds are, you won't regret spending a bit more on your shoes.

yeah i dont mind spending a little more for better shoes, like i said, im going to be walking in them all the time. would it really make a difference to get measured? ive been wearing 12s in everything for years and never had a problem, and ive ordered a few things online without trying them on somewhere and been happy...its just now im walking a lot more, and harder, so i want something really comfy. ill look at the higher series NBs

Personally - I would go with a lightweight running shoe from Nike - just select one of their Bowerman line of running shoes for the style you need.

Running shoes are NOT what he needs for walking on concrete. A GOOD quality walking shoe is needed.

OP, if you don't like athletic-type shoes, or can't wear them at work, look at Red Wing. They make some decent quality shoes that will work for you.

I have a high arch and a high instep. These fit me very well. I bought a pair of New Balance walking and had to put inserts in them. Ended up with nearly $110 into them before I was done. The Avia's are better for me and cheaper too. YMMV

Best pair of shoes I've ever owned was Nike 3.0. Comfortable once you break them in and get used to them. They tore on the sides after 2+ years of use, and after hundreds of miles of walking. They fixed durability in the newer versions.
