I got a hard drive as a gift the other day, and I haven't kept up with computer hardware since I last built my pc 4 years ago.
The hard drive I got says, SATA ultra series (serial ata/150) maxtor diamond max.
I haven't opened the box because somehow I think this nice hd might not be compatible with my 4 year old dinasour system I built. I have been looking on the net to see if my this hd will fit the grey ide cables on my mb, but so far, I haven't figured out much. I guess I need to either buy a new motherboard to take advantage of the new technologies?
So if aanybody out there can give me a quick update on the hard drives out there, I would highly appreciate it. I'm looking at the hd in my current system and it sa ys WD enhanced IDE HD---are these still out there to buy?
)) thanks!
