I've been told the WRT54-GL is the ultimate router in the universe, but I'm skeptical. I had a linksys that looked just like it once and it died in months. It wasn't EXACTLY at WRT54-GL, but damnit, it looked like one.
I have a DLink DI-524 now. After 2 years it's range is reduced to less than 20 feet and it drops the wireless link all the time.
I live in a downtown high rise apartment building and I'm probably already developing brain cancer from the amount of wireless energy penetrating my body. There must be at least 50 networks operating.
Anyways, my list of demands for a router is simple.
- Reliable
- Reliable
- Doesn't drop signal
- Decent range
- Reliable
- Doesn't drop signal
Speed and how much I can mess with the settings mean nothing to me.
I just know that the next time I buy a router, the first time it drops my wireless signal for no reason..........I'm going to find the designer and murder his entire family in cold blood.
Recommendations for router?
