so this morning i woke up and my HDD is dead...wont boot but nice grinding sound. its on rma to seagate. soo, i was thinking what better time to upgrade to a bootdrive, and a storage (the drive on rma). so i was thinking going dual 15k scsi's in raid 0 but i dont want to spend that much.....not even close to that. i was thinking maybe a 74gb raptor sense its like 130 after rebate at newegg. how does that sound?

edit
So i have decided that im am going to get 1 74 raptor. i am conteplating getting 2 and setting them in raid 0. yes i know there is not very muhc preformance increase, but i think this will be a good learning optertunity. does this sound like a good idea or no?

im getting a gig soon i dont need it right now...i was thinking the 2 36s just to fuvk around and have fun. also to learn how to set up a raid array...good idea or no?

If you're bound and determined to spend the money and go w/ a Raptor RAID then I guess go for it but if speed is what you're looking for and you don't mind spending the $300 then go w/ one of the new 150 Raptors. Their performance is markedly better than the 74s.. I'd bet a new 150 would give you the same performance (or better) than 2 RAIDed 74s.
