Sent off my prety basic Easton 2-piece Connexion bat in for warranty repair as it had a couple flat spots (after 3 games mind you). $60 bat I got off eGay, $9 bucks shipping. Pretty cheap as far as bats go.

Got the "repaired" bat in 2 days ago. Instead of my shiny red $60 Connexion, I got a nice Orange ST7-ZB. 2-piece Conexxion, "Z-Core" carbon fiber reinforced, "777" alloy (strongest they offer aside from Ti). It's a $180 bat!!!!!

Needless to say, I had alread bought the ST7-Z (slow pitch equivalent of what they sent me). But I guess since they replaced my $60 stick with a $180 one, I won't bug them for the $7 leather grip I had on the old one

:D:D:D

Cliff Notes for the lazy:
Bought $60 bat on eGay.
Bat got dents after 3 games.
Sent to Easton for repair.
They sent back $180 top of the line bat as replacement.

Now, I gotta decide how "in" to this rec-league softball I want to get. The one I bought is a 34"/27oz. The old bat was a 32"/23oz, and it's replacement is a 32/22.

Keep the old bat and do more "situational" hitting? Or sucumb to my Ferengi instincts and skank it off on eGay and basically make about $120 off my original purchase.......

Just make sure you get a receipt for warranty purposes :) The original one I bought from eGay I got from a seller called Nuto Sports or something like that. GREAT seller. I asked them for some advice on submitting for warranty and he faxed me a seperate "invoice" for the bat so I could send it in. Was also very helpful as the red one was technically a fastpitch bat due to it's shorter length. He/they were totally willing to exchange it for me if for some reason the league deemed it illegal (which it wasn't). Pretty decent prices, but you can also buy directly from them @ Nuto Sports.

My new bat I bought from directbats.com as they were closer (i'm in WA, they're in OR) had a little cheaper price (+/- $5) and free shipping. I paid $170 for my ST7-Z, then found a couple auctions I missed for new of the same model that closed for less than $130 :( But I've got the full warranty and receipts to go with it :)

The cost difference of the two bats to manufacter is probably negligable- so they probably decided instaed of haveing a customer talking to all his buddies telling them how bat a keeps on getting flat spots in it, they would rather have you tell your buddies how fricken awesome bat b is.. Cheap marketing and you win win/win

Rinse, repeat. You would have to purchase a new bat to dent though, as they retain the right to not replace the bat after 2 times.

No kidding. One of my teammates has the standard Sc777 bat and it's got a few flat spots in it. I gotta tell him at our next game on monday if he's got his receipt, to send it in.

They are also VERY quick about it. They take about 2 days for repair/replacement, then return ship (no charge) via Fedex 2-day. I sent the old bat in last week Thursday and the new one came This past Wednesday. So less than a week!!!
