i made my partition on my harddrive too small and now i cant install anymore programs. how do i make the partition bigger without formating the whole thing?

Well, you don't necessarily have to reformat the whole hdd. But you do have to combine at least 2 partitions together into a bigger sector (at least so i think). You can easily do that using the windows xp cd.

Many partition utilities can resize partitions if the secondary partition has a lot of free space on it. Formatting should be a last option since the whole HD will be wiped.

Hmmmm....I don't think that the XP Cd is capable of resizing or combining volumes on Basic disks. Sure, if you are willing to do a (one-way) conversion to a Dynamic disk...... But, otherwise, I think we're talking a 3rd-party partition manager program here.

Time out...Windows will not allow you to resize your Primary OS partiion. You will need to use a after market tool such as Partiion Magic.
