Hey there,

Welp, ive come to a point in my life where im sick of having this goddamn beer belly. I dont consider myself to be abundantly overweight by any means, just a tad on the pudgy side around the equator. Just a few 'specs' on myself, Im 22 years old, 5'11" and weigh about 190. I also exercise regularly, and go to the gym 2-3 times a week.

After speaking with my bro brian about this goal, we decided to get on a regiment this coming summer and hit up the gym 5-6 days a week (some mornings, some nights) and alternate with weight training/lifting and cardio.

The second part I've decided needed some change was with my diet. Now i know the basics for eating healthy/calorie counting, and ive been doing good for about a week or two now (cept my excursion to Carrabas last night) , but i was wondering if any of you guys had any good recepies or reccomendations on good and nutritious food to eat while i stive for my goal of equalateral symmetry. Im getting sick of eating turkey and fat-free yogurt for lunch, and wanted to see if you had any good suggestions...

if you like salads, restaraunts have some great ones now, that are good for you and really taste good too! also, try buying 95% fat free ground beef, if you want to shake things up a little in your diet.

<------- lost 65 lbs so far this year, and four dress sizes. yay! so I know you can do it! :)

yeah, get depressed, get a very physical job, and spend every night working at it. works like a charm!

I wouldn't say you're "abnormal" right now. Sounds like you've set a realistic goal, though, good luck getting there and keeping it off! :)

Yeah I'm actually in the same boat...I have a GF who says she doesnt mind, but I know she wants me to look better than I do.
The thing about wanting to look good w/out a shirt on is true though =)

haha im set to gain 20lbs over the summer!
currently im 5'11" 165lbs ...my plan is 180lbs by the end of the summer. I work out every day for about an hour, and alternate form arms/legs to chest/back

Impressive, I too am trying to clean up my diet. One thing I learned that is very critical in any diet is post work out food. Maybe drink a protein shake a little bit after you jog or work out to start gaining that lean muscle. Some type of complex carb to replenish the muscle. Everyone will tell you that its near impossible to gain muscle and lose weight at the same time but I think that only goes for people who are very overweight. But you're only losing 15ish lbs so that's no prob. I obviously don't know much but I recommend you join some fitness forums like bodybuilding.com. It's like another AT but for health and fitness, very intellectual people post there.
I am currently on a ketosis diet. Bottom line is that I eat mostly meats for protein and fats, but the clean fats like tuna and chicken. Keto is where you eat little carbs a day(>40g) to trick your body into using fat for fuel. I still work out though to keep all the muscle I have gained. (my bench press max has stayed the same since I started but I dropped 20lbs so far so I think it's working good for me). I think ketosis is a good way to diet and retain almost all of your muscle mass.

but again you only have a small gut so maybe you should do some hardcore crunches with some weight resistance. hehe.

<---- lost almost 20 lbs in two months... :D stopped eating out... no sodas... all 3 meals only around 500-600 calories each. Not eating out was just a side effect of trying to save for a car. :(

Met-RX shakes can be bought quite cheap and met-rx bars also :)

Tuna, fat free cottage cheese are yummy as well.

Yea, i tried atkins a year or two back. I couldnt do it, drove me nuts :)

If you already work out... add a couple more cardio workouts a week and fix your diet and it should come off:D

i hear ya :p unfortunately i'm getting sick all the time. i worked 14 hours yesterday and was supposed to stay later but i got sick. :( i called in sick today and spent literally 10 hours sleeping. my mom had to force me to eat something when she came home. i still feel like garbage. ATOT DOCTOR, WHERE ARE YOU?
