So, I like cats - but am allergic. My eyes swell up real bad around them. Any non-allergenic breeds?

They have genetically engineered cats which don't cause allergies. Not sure if they are available for purchase yet, but if they are prepare to spend several thousand dollars. Your only other options are to take allergy medication everyday or buy one of those hairless cats... yuck.

We had a hairless cat. They do have them.

It was a really cool cat. About the ugliest thing ever though.

My allergies were pretty bad, so I started buying a generic version of Claritin and got a prescription for Flonase (though I usually just get the cheaper generic version; nasalcort). After a few months, you build up a "tolerance" to the SPECIFIC animals you live with (you're get resistant to Mr. Tickles, your classic tabby, but not Pinky, your girlfriends classic tabby). I still need the claritin daily. If I go off for two or three days I start getting a runny nose and itchy eyes. I don't need the Flonase anymore for my cat alergies, but I got a refill because my fall allergies are starting to kick in.

Gf is allergic to cats for the first day or so around them after being away for a while, then she's fine...
