A while back I was gutting my car for sound deadening and after I took out the rear left seat belt I dropped and it wound all the way up. I tired my best to get the seat belt unwound but no matter what I tried I could not get it to unwind, I gave up thinking it was busted.

Fast forward to today: I ordered a new belt at the cost of $238 and got installed. While I was installing it, I noticed that it had to be perfectly vertical to unwind. It didn't hit me to try it on the old belt until just now when I was holding it wondering what I should do with it, I held it straight and after a few tugs it unwound just fine. :frown:

I guess I have a spare now...

I'm sure this is just salt on the wound...next time you encounter a failure of a non-critical component, find a forum of enthusiasts of the car you own, join and ask for help. If all else fails, there is typically a FS/FT part of the forum that you can find good used parts on.

Saved me alot of money on old beaters over the years
