So I knew this kid who couldn't replace the fuel pump in his car... guess what he does now?

So, a couple years ago I knew this kid from a different message board -- it was a website about Mustangs. Anyway, he lived in the same area as me, and knew pretty much nothing about worknig on his car. I offered to go over to his house and help him replace a fuel pump one day... I ended up doing msot of the work.

He was a nice kid, but never seemed to have any particular mechanical aptitude.

I just talked to him again he's 20 now. Guess what he's doing for a living?

He's an aircraft mechanic working on F-117 structural repairs. :Q

Wow. That's actually a pretty awesome sounding job.

He'd have been trained for the job though. I'm assuming this is a US Air Force job? A student won't graduate from technical training without being at least somewhat qualified, then theres the 5 level OJT upgrade training he's probably working on right now.

Yeah, he joined the USAF.

Yeah, he joined the USAF.

Yup. They judged potential with a test and put him into a program which trained him.

does he still have no particular mechanical aptitude?

I don't know. I hope he got better 😛

In all fairness, a lot of mechanical ineptitude is more likely mechanical inexperience.

that does it, im NOT driving F-117s anytime soon

You don't drive F-117s. 😛 You fly or pilot F-117s.

Heh.. for some reason this reminds me of the scene in Buckaroo Banzai where Buckaroo and John Parker are in the Red 'Lectroid thermal pod toward the end of the movie and Buckaroo tells John that "it drives like a truck". John replies, "Great! What is a truck?"

My friend helped replace my fuel pump in my old mustang. He decided to syphon the gas out with his mouth, and wound up getting quite a bit in his mouth...lol.
