did that once with an arby's sandwich and it's foil wrapper. it was pretty much instantaneous between the flame starting and me noticing. got it out in time so there way no damage to either the microwave or my sandwich, besides a scorch mark on the wrapper. :)

i have, however, managed to destroy a microwave when I was younger, by playing an entire freaking pot in the microwave in attempts to make macaroni.
oh what good times. the plastic coating the covered the metal handle caught on fire as the pot sparked. ugh the smell was nauseating, and the yelling from mom was severe. :D

When I was 16 and working at A&W, one of the girls put a bag of something that had been stapled at the top in the microwave. About 10 seconds later there were flames licking out around the door seal. I looked over and said, "looks like it's done."

Why did it catch fire? I put fast food in the bag into the microwave all the time, makes a nice little steaming vessel. Unless of course there is a shiny wrapper on said yummy food.

If they can put a man on the moon, how come you can't put metal in a microwave?

I worry about the future of mankind.

Soon aluminum foil will be sold behind the counter requiring a prescription.

And fast food places will require ID showing proof of an IQ over 40.
