Well, probably not due to the selection being a lot smaller.

Anyway I was in albertsons and saw the kiosk then I saw the price, rent DVDs for $1!

Pretty awesome, you even get a email confirmation when you return the DVD. How does Blockbuster get away with charging like $5 per new DVD with tax when redbox charges $1?

Some people prefer checking out and to look. May like chatting with the people who work there asking about movie recommendations.

You must not see the same douchebags that I have seen in just about every blockbuster. I wouldn't ask those idiots for the time.

Blockbuster is hurting and this doesn't help them, but the redbox gets old quickly, as the selection is abysmal compared to a b&m store or netflix.

Yeah, Redbox selection sucks. I just use the free Promo codes for a couple free rentals now and then. Otherwise, meh.

So how does this work? The kiosks only accept credit cards? What about prepaid cards?

I second that! I don't even bother going to Blockbuster or any other rental place anymore. Might as well buy the DVD if you think you'll like it for not much more.
I use the Redbox machine at the local Neighborhood Wal Mart and haven't paid for a rental yet (thanks Redboxcodes.com!) :)

At the last one I went to, I think they would have had trouble reading a clock, even digital.

There's one in every location of one of the local grocery chains, and a blue-boxed competitor in the other chain. I don't normally rent movies but I might start getting from RB's, so they've increased the market right there.

I started using the RedBox location at the McDonald's up the street about a month ago. Sure beat driving 8x as far and using 8x the gas to rent a DVD for $5 when I can basically drive across the street and rent a movie for a $1. Plus, I can reserve my rental online before I even leave, so if they don't have a movie I want, then I don't have to waste the gas.

There's also DVDPlay kiosk inside Safeway which is very similar to Red Box (designed by the same company).
It has new movie releases every week.

They have all the newest ones in the one I go to. I never have a problem getting them, and haven't paid a dime yet due to the codes! :)
They had the new releases out today in the machine when I went at 8 this morning (Tuesday). I figured it would take them a day or two to get the brand new ones in there, but was pleasantly surprised.

Aside for the $1 cost, the best part about them is a movie can be returned to any redbox location. Not only is that a convenience for returning a movie, but for renting as well, since you can find yourself in a distant store and stop at a redbox kiosk on the way out, knowing you don't have to come back to that store the next day.
