here is the ebay mail i received, less than an hour after posting:

: I am interested in the immediate purchase of this item: XXXXXXXX, i shall also be paying you US $1000 plus the shipping fee for the item through western union auction payments.i will like to ask if you would be able to ship as soon as payment is confirmed and approved by western union auction payments, this is due to the fact that the demand is high in my store and so i will want to complete the transaction in a very timely manner.if you can do this, email me with your name, contact address and your phone number so that i can proceed with payment right away.let me quickly say that you will be handling shipping yourself via USPS express or spend post express or royalmail service as i will be sending this unit to my son.if you cannot do pls dont bother to reply. Thanks.

now, considering this is a fresher than fresh account, it really is fishy. but just wanted to get your guys input. so what do you think?

Got something like that with an Amazon sale I had up last week. No $1k, but wanted Western Union...

I say scam.

Red flags begin with:

"Immediate purchase" -- Who the hell uses that language?

"Western Union" -- Aw, HELL no.

Taking care of the auction outside of ebay -- bad ju-ju.

(0) feedback -- Wouldn't take that on anything worth over $20.

The language indicates this person has a limited command of the language and has absolutely no respect for you.

If something seems to good to be true it probably is.

Other red flags include

"...,this is due to the fact that the demand is high in my store..."
"...i will be sending this unit to my son."
