When I went in for my interview I specifically said, as well as wrote on my availability sheet, that I cannot come in on Saturdays at any time. The GM of the store who interviewed me said that not working Saturdays was just fine.

Fast forward to now. They schedule these meetings that are "mandatory" almost every other Saturday from 7:00AM to 9:30AM.

Yea, that happened to me when I worked at a department store. I was working at a store in 1 town, started going to college in another town, interviewed to move to the the same store that was closer. I interviewed with the owner/manager and I told him I could work 2 specific days during the week because of classes. He had no problem with that, gave me a specific schedule around it, etc. Only a few weeks into working there, there shift supervisor kept trying to schedule me for those days, and I kept telling him that I can't because of classes and that the owner agreed before I started. He wouldn't accept it. He just kept saying "well if you want this job, you need to meet our needs, blah blah". Idiot.

(post in the wrong thread...or did Nick "might have fell out" of Best Buy?)

Nick, if this doesn't work out...I'll bet you know a place looking for a part-time bar maid job...and IIRC, you have a personal rapport with the owner. :p

That's the great thing about retail. They don't give a shit. If you want to make sweet money part time in retail, just apply, get hired, spend two weeks doing the required training on whatever schedule YOU want, then quit. Rinse, repeat. Easiest 2 weeks pay evar.
