I'm planning on selling my PPC6700 on ebay for a couple hundred. I only got $75 off the phone so i'll end up spending ~$275 for the upgrade. Not too shabby. The 6700 was pretty damn cool with all the hacks i have on it but everything i've read on the 6800 says it'll be worth the wait and the cost.

Anyone have any first hand experience with these?

No, but I'd be interested in hearing what you think about it. I've got a PPC-6700, and I imagine I'll be making the switch in the next year or two.

I keep wishing they'd release a version without a camera - my wife, at the very least, needs an upgrade, but camera phones aren't allowed in her workplace.

Yeah, let us know, I'm considering grabbing one with SERO (heard it's available for $280 if you call in and ask).

DJFuji please report on your experiences with the 6800 once you have had some time with it. I was thinking about getting one these myself and would love to here your thoughts on it.

I just received my Mogul. I had a Motorola Q before this that was a complete lemon. I'm quite pleased with the Mogul. It's thinner and shorter than my trusty old Nokia and only slightly wider. The voice quality sounds great to me. I can answer questions if you have any.

OK: how well does the Samba share browsing work over Wi-Fi? Can you stream video that way?

Ok i just recieved mine last night. So far a great improvement over the 6700. Got threaded SMS working (the best addon to WM ive ever used) and loaded all my 6700 apps on it fine. The OS feels like Windows mobile 5.1....in other words, not much difference. Of course, i was running a hacked AKU 3.5 on my 6700 so thats probably why i dont notice huge differences.

Here are some other observations:

The sliding mechanism on this phone is FAR superior to the 6700

The lack of a mic jack (uses a converter) is kind of annoying

I cant believe they changed the mem card format AGAIN. Wouldnt have been that hard to have a standard SD card slot at the top

More buttons - handy

It's not THAT much smaller than the 6700 in specs...but it FEELS a lot smaller.

Backlit keys are nice.

Number keys are great for dialing phone numbers without using on screen keypad.

Keys are SMALLER than the 6700 keys but are easier to press .... require less pressure. I have small hands so it's not too bad but i can only imagine if you have huge fingers...you'll never be able to type on this thing.

The wifi on/off switch is nice...but i'd rather it controlled ringer/silent mode.

Internet/tethering worked fine but rumor has it that i'll get billed for using it like that because i dont have the "phone as modem" plan. We'll see if the charges show up next month

oh btw if you have a 6700 i'd HIGHLY recommend you reflash the ROM with a version of AKU3.5 from ppcgeeks.com unless you plan to get rid of it soon. The hacked firmware out there is WAY faster and less buggy.

I noticed that on Sprint's main page for this phone it says "GPS enabled" however from what I read it seems this is just for 911 service, is that correct? Or is the GPS available for use by mapping software?

GPS is for internal use only. Which sucks because a lot of the WM6 software can integrate into a GPS module.

Internet works like the 6700. Fast, nice. Unfortunately the IE browser isn't all that great, but it gets the job done. If you live in an EVDO area, it's great.

I'm getting my Mogul some time this week. It's the first Java-enabled Sprint/PDA phone, so you could use Opera

And from what I've read, you can use Telenav and use the internal GPS...

This is probably the phone (er, PPC) I'm going to get. The only thing holding me back is Sprint's reputation...but I think they'll do well enough for me, especially the price of the SERO plan (look in deals forum to see how to get it). This looks like a neat enough device.

Everytime I communicate with someone at Sprint I get a different story as to what's included with the SERO plan and how much it's going to cost for services and/or the device. Grrr...I just tried to order on the phone and now I have to pay $399 to get the Mogul despite my last rep telling me I could get it for $288 (I wanted to read up more first). The GPS was also no longer included with the plan, but I was expecting that as only 1 out of 3 communications (2 calls and an email) said it was, and I really didn't expect the price to be darn near free for everything.

EDiT: I didn't pay the extra $$. I really should take the hint and go elsewhere, but I want the Mogul. I'll try again tomorrow. Gosh, am I turning into a problem customer before I even get on? Pooperz.

Well, rather than waste anymore time trying to save a stinking $5/mo on a price that's already unbeatable, I just ordered online and got in paper exactly what I was paying for. I patiently await my new toy.

got mine and love it. there is only one issue i have with it: gmail

for some reason, the java version of gmail isn't working (says it can't run on my phone after install). and when i try to sync up with the gmail pop and smtp servers, I only get one new message, and it is the first default message from google. when i delete it and it resyncs with my gmail account, the damned message comes back. i can't figure out what i have to do to fix it. what is even more strange is I can send email perfectly.
