So I've been using IE this whole time, and I figured it was about time to try out firefox. Is it me or does it seem to go faster? I thought the browser didnt really matter for speed. I wish the scrolling was smoother tho.

Weirdness

It can go faster. Install a plugin called "Fasterfox" and browsing speeds jump. That's how it was in my experience, anyway.

Smoother scrolling? I think there's an option to turn on "smooth scrolling" in firefox, but I don't remember where it is.

Anyway, +1 for the firefox gang! whoo!

Ya it's pretty cool, but I here that the new IE is good too. I'm using FireFox for now though.

Time to get him hooked.
Okay, perform the following operations:
hit ctrl-t
whoa! A new tab just opened, and your cursor is in the URL box.
Type:
dict projector
whoa! It knows that you want to look up projector at dictionary.com
(There are tons of shortcuts like that)

instead of right clicking and "open in new window", click the scroll wheel on your mouse when you're over a link. Wow, it opened in a new tab, and you aren't interupted from working in the tab you're currently in.

Anyone else want to add hints, before we point him to the good add-ons?

Very cool, thanks for the tip 🙂

FireFox for me seems to give you a lot more control over what you are doing. Or more simply stating, has a lot more control over the internet.

The only problem with Firefox is that it has a tendency to let memory usage to go out of control and that it lags at times. Other than that,.

just installed firefox 2 beta 2. has spell checker built in (words have a red dotted underline under them), refreshed ui, tabs now have a close X button on them, and among other things...memory usage has dropped and its pretty stable. although hardly any of my extensions work, except for adblock plus, filterset G updater, and downthemall.
