So I just had an idea for "The Office"

I've been re-watching The Office on Netflix. Since Steve Carrell is leaving the office I was sitting around contemplating on who would be a good replacement. I came up with this

He's already a character, but not a well established one. It would be a nice change and it wouldn't be a direct copy of the Michael Scott character. Discuss

I hate that new goofy looking guy from Sabre. I saw him in another movie recently and he just acts the same. He's freaky looking too.

Best idea... have GOB take over as the manager like he did with the Bluth company.

While part of me loves that idea as I LOVE Arrested Development...I'd hate to taint the legend of GOB by him trying to keep The Office afloat one more season. Just let a good show that has run its course end before it becomes desperate. One really great thing about Arrested Development is it was funny to the day it was canceled. There will never be "that awful season" for the show.

Totally agree... BUT... how about a show based on GOB? I'm in for that.

I have an idea too, they should cancel the hell out of it already.

...and it was never as funny as the British version anyway.

Agreed. Honestly I just wish there were 3 full 22 episode seasons. I love how they poked fun at 2 getting cut to 18 episodes when they already had the episodes planned out/hate it at the same time.

There won't be a replacement. The show has run it's course.

Michael Scott has run his course, it's just painful to watch Steve Carell chew the scenery like a 4th rate hack playing Hamlet in summerstock. Getting rid of that character might be just the thing the show needs to stay alive. It was always at its best when the other characters had bigger parts. With a new boss that doesn't monopolize the screen time perhaps the show could recapture some of the old charm.

The others characters only worked because of Michael Scott. Without him the whole show is pointless. Does anybody really give a shit about Jim and Pam and their kid? And Dwight is a useless character with Michael to suck up to. Replacing Carrell is a stupid idea. They might as well bring in the red headed stepchild and have him ride a motorcycle over a shark tank.

Yes this exactly. I have loved every episode, but without Michael Scott there is really no point to the show. He creates all the awkwardness that makes the show gold. I would rather the creators make a new series rather than try and keep the Office alive.

The show started going downhill when it focused more on Jim and Pam. Jim isn't funny at all anymore. Ryan was decent as an intern, ever since he became a VP he is worthless now. Get rid of Steve Carrell and you've got a show based on...Dwight?

Oh god... anyone see a terrible spinoff show coming? "Shrute Farm" anyone?

They already have. It's called Parks and Recreation. It started off a little slow, IMO, Leslie Knope was just a female version of Michael Scott. But by the middle of the first season it was really coming into it's own with interesting characters and good writing.
