I ordered a fast track E6500 from Dell, and just received it yesterday. First day impressions are included in this and they are my opinions. Treat them with a grain of salt.

1. Clean: This notebook is simple, and clean. I like where everything is, including this super nice lcd that is on it. Zero glare, and I mean zero.

2. Size: Its a little big for my tastes, but all 15 inch notebooks are now that i have gotten used to netbooks and thier place in my life.

3. Rugged: It seems with the metal hinges, and the square body, that this thing can take a beating. Im truly looking forward to using it alot.

4. Fast: Its got an 8700 in it, with 2 gigs of ram, and it smokes. I have another stick of 2 gigs coming also, and i mean it takes less than 15 seconds to boot up to windows 7 pro. Flat awesome.

5. Bloatware: I found only 1 piece of software on this notebook that was preloaded that I immediately dumped like a bad habit, and that was norton internet security.

Dell did a great job on this latitude. Im truly happy with it. Now, lets see how I feel in a month or so...

Nice, hope you enjoy it. Dell doesn't put a lot of "bloatware" on their business line systems. But even with their consumer based systems, a quick reformat and reinstall of Windows gets rid of the bloatware.

I can't wait until the redo them with the i3's/i5's. The chassis's are awesome, they just need to update the hardware underneath.

You mean the lids that are easily scratched? Or maybe the paint on the plastic palmrests/bezel?

Just remember to underclock your laptop. If it runs too hot, the heat from the exhaust will wear the paint form the left speaker grill out.
