So i just got a 2500...

i built my friend a computer who had a $500 cap

he had:
cd drive
hard drive
floppy

i got him:
maxtop case
9800pro
gig of 3200
shuttle AN35N-Ultra <---used 4 times now and it kicks ass
all coper HSF
and some case fans.

so i heard all about how the 2500's are locked multipliers these days (mine is older so it isnt ) and im thinking "oh well, i can still raise the FSB to 200 anyway". i go into his bios and the multipliers werent locked! i ordered it about a week ago BTW. how can this be?

Well, maybe he got lucky when he bought the chip and maybe it was older than 0339. Or he actually got shipped a low volt XP-M instead

I have an AN35N-Ultra, and while you can change the multiplier to your heart's delight in the BIOS, the clock speed of the processor remains the same (unless you actually got an unlocked 2500+). Try checking the speed in Windows (or during the BIOS bootup process) and see what it reports.
