I bought it day one at full price, and wish I had waited. But if you got half off or so, it is probably worth it. A lot of reviewers ripped the single player campaign, but I thought it was pretty decent. Didnt play a lot of multiplayer. Skirmish mode seemed really difficult, even on easy setting.

hard at first but eventually get easier. naturally you learn to adjust your gameplay to the nuances of the game. usually i would play annihilation over conquest or what ever because playing by points usually meant i lost fairly quickly. i play turtle a lot so that often was bad for me. but it was easier to survive any assaults and then gradually beat them.

Multiplayer offers no Annihilation mode, that's another thing I hated.

You're forced into playing victory mode on either 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, or 4v4. The new patch also made the number of maps you can choose from in 3v3 or 4v4 (as far as I can tell) fewer for some unknown reason.

so what are the different modes? there were two right? one was each team starts with a certain amount of points and you capture control points and you lose points if the other team has more control points than you. the other mode was pure conquest or annihilation mode. i usually played against ai so maybe that is why?

In skirmish mode (Pure vs AI, or with a friend on steam) you can play either Annihilation or Victory mode. Multiplayer (pure PVP) Automatch is Victory mode only.

Annihilation is the most fun I think as it's pure tactics and not rushed. First team to wipe out the other's forces wins. You can only play this mode against AI, COOP, or against friends on steam.

Victory mode is where you start out with 500 points and are on a map with 3 victory points. Whoever runs out of victory points (by holding the least amount of flags the longest) loses. You can play this mode against AI, COOP with friends, or Automatch PVP.

The original CoH allowed you to do whatever mode you wanted I believe.
