I bought it from microcenter today. Someone mentioned that it'll be $200 cheaper on black friday. I figured I'd buy it today and avoid the black friday madness, plus I gotta work. If I wait till I get off work, they'd be all gone.

I'll take some pics and post them once I move it into the house. It's in the backseat of my car right now cuz no one is around to help me move it. :p

I took a pic of it:Text

That other screen is my Sony 23" LCD hehe.

Isn't the scaler in the Westinghouse very poor?

I would stay the hell away from the Westy. Too many QC issues mentioned on AVSForum. Stick to the Sceptre from Costco; better features plus Costco's warranty.

I thought that was the old 37" Westy (non 1080p panel)?

Really? Ah, hell, I can never keep up with all the damn threads at AVS, it's ridiculous. I'm pretty set on the Sceptre anyways though.

I was waiting for Target to offer a $100 rebate on the 32" version but it never happened :(

$999 - 10% coupon - $100 rebate = $799 for 32"

Damn :(

Three things:

1. You sure you didn't buy the HVS, not the HVE? The HVS has the built-in tuner. The HVE does not.

2. For Xbox, how do you have it hooked up. On mine, I opened the dashboard and selected widescreen under video. On the TV I have the video set to Full. I have the xbox connected via the component HDTV cables. Is their anyway to tell if I am running the game at 720p or 480p?

3. I can't pick up hdtv channels via an atenna. If I use a cable box that gets HD channels, can I just connect the coax output to the DTV input? Or do I need to use HDMI or Component? If an antenna can use coax and look great, can a cable box?

Thanks!

Normally I don't really notice wiring in pictures even when people say it looks really bad. This pic however.... :p

Suggesting that people should jump for a 1080p set makes me sad.

Congrats on the new set...and what a worthy first game :D

Why?

I think for two reasons.

1. There is almost no 1080p content currently out and almost no one even knows if 1080p will ever be the next standard.

2. For a 37", if you are sitting a normal distance away from the television, there will be no difference in what you can view between a 720p and 1080p. The differences only become noticeable on monster sized screens and at a very close distance.

Thanks for the pic ! I'm thinking about trying to get one on BF, I haven't seen anything at other stores that's worth going for and I live pretty close to Micor Center.

Good points, I guess I'm just thinking in terms of HTPCs too much. The added resolution is extremely useful.

I agree. Plus I got a 720p set and don't want to look really stupid.

As far as 1080p, I did want a TV which supports that. However, for now, I just wanted a big screen TV and I didn't feel like spending $2k so this is a starter TV for me. I've never owned one except for whatever TV which was in my room when I was in high school. For the past 5 or 6 years, I've been using my computer for my TV.

Once I get my own place then I will get a bigger screen (higher res). I was looking at the Sharp Aquos 45" panels. They are not they're all cracked up to be. They look to be overly blurry. Someone mentioned that this was some firmware bug and was fixed. I'm not taking my chances.

I have wires running all over my room. Keep in mind that the black speaker and control box you see belong to the DTT2500 (for those of you who don't know, this is that oldschool speaker set that Cambridge Soundworks released about 6 years ago--I bought it during college). I've yet to really look into getting a real audio system. As of right now, I'm staying at my uncle's house so I don't want to get a set which takes up too much space here and getting something of mediocre quality is not something I want to do either.

I'm definitely going to be asking you for help once I hit up the home theatre sound. So I am going to thank you in advance. :)

Hehehe yeah the wires look horrible!

It looks like you have 7 or so lines running to your ceiling... what's up with that?

Yeah I figured saving an extra $200 (well less than $200 since you factor in tax) wasn't worth the craziness of BF. If I didn't have to work that day, I'd camp out to try and get one. Since my company is going to screw me and make me work that day, I took this route.

I'll call the store and ask a manager if they'd do a receipt adjustment for me but I highly doubt it. No worries.

Ok the two yellow wires are for the wireless router and switch. The wireless router sits on the other side of the wall (not shown, above). The comps in the other rooms can't get a signal if I didn't put the router in this exact location. I even tried putting it in a "better" location but no go. So what did I do? I drill a big hole in the wall. The black wire close to the yellow wire is the speaker wire to the center speaker (above the TV). The receiver is just sitting on the TV at the time, titled because I just didn't care and it was 11PM at night. I made a little platform out of cardboard for it now. It doesn't look as ghetto as it sounds. The white wire at the top is for cable TV to the livingroom (comcast internet/cable came in through my room LOL).

The other black wires are also speaker wires for the surround speakers (not shown).
