destrekor, yeah that MSAA is totally useful when any old chap with a 560 Ti 2GB SLI setup worth over $500 can use it without too much trouble.

Also,

I was not stating it was the most efficient AA method.

Do remember, that is also running the game at almost completely max quality at 1080p.

Do you expect to be able to run every game out today at max quality, regardless of your hardware? This is a brand new engine, so it stands to reason they want it to last a little while.

I bet if I dropped everything to High (which probably still looks great), and/or if I turned down Ambient Occlusion from HBAO to either SSAO or even None (HUGE performance hit running with this on), I could probably get away running 4xMSAA.

Yes, other AA methods are more efficient, as I clearly stated.
But it's not worthless, and IMHO it provided a huge reduction in visible aliasing.
Your main argument seemed to be that not only is it demanding, and that it also had no noticeable reduction in visible aliasing. I argue differently on the latter point.

As for the specific quote, deferred 4xMSAA still looks great (even if it has a performance impact). It has no noticeable reduction in image quality, provides a significant reduction in aliasing, and combined with a little Post AA (which is "free" for the most part), provides terrific image quality on my system. I'd rather run almost all Ultra settings because at 1080p I feel comfortable enough with simply High AA (Post), but there is a small sacrifice with the Post AA, and that's the picture is a little softer (not significantly though). For multiplayer where I want truly consistent FPS, that's how I'd run it. But I'd much rather 4xMSAA and Medium or Low PostAA, which still looks great and is ever so slightly sharper. I find it acceptable that I must turn down settings from the maximum IQ settings to apply AA at this resolution.
