Ok, aside from both my CPU and Motherboard dying on me, it appears that my GF4 TI4400 also died on me. On Saturday, I ran down to compusa and bought the only 9800 pro they had, some 'Made by ATi'
one for $250.

Now to get my new PC running I had to repair W2K. I think this was because I swapped motherboard and pretty much everything else. It still recognizes that I have DX9b and I went through the process of uninstalling all my nvidia drivers. I then went through the process of installing all the ATi drivers off the CD (because I don't have an internet connection at the house yet to get the latest drivers). Everything worked fine except when I try to play a DX game. It fails out with some errors about dd1 in user32 / gdi32.dll if I recall correctly. These same errors occur when I open DXDIAG and on the Display panel it states that the current drivers cannot run Direct3d 9.

I just downloaded the 4.6 drivers and Driver Cleaner and am going to burn them to a CD and take them home. I just wanted to post and see if anyone else had a similar experience or if this is a common issue? I am thinking that maybe the drivers on the CD were built for DX9 and arn't working with DX9b.

It's been 1 hell of a week and I've completely torn my pc apart. The good news is that my old cpu was running at 80c while my new one is running at 47c! I like the N-Force2 motherboard that I bought also and the soundstorm audio is really nice so far.

Sounds like an issue with your AGP driver perhaps. Before installing the Catalyst drivers re-install your MB chipset drivers + DX9b and then Catalysts. DX is backward compatable, so that's likely not the issue with the CD drivers.

Ooh, good idea, I'll download the latest n-force drivers while I have a network connection.

Also, OpenGL seems to be working. And DX 7 and 8 are supposedly working but yet every DX game fails since I am guessing they are all trying to use DX 9.

Ended up having to reinstall windows 2000 over my previous install. I think it must have been destroyed by all the hardware upgrades.
