I picked up Stalker:Clear Sky and Rainbox Six Vegas 2 from newegg for $3.01 each, and I picked up Company of Heroes from my local Target for $13.

So, which game is going to be worth my time? I game with the PC in sig.

STALKER is a pretty long game but at the same time it doesn't have much replay value. It takes a little while to get into. It's also definitely the most demanding of the three, hardware-wise.

No idea what R6V2's single-player is like. COH is a standard RTS - I like the game mechanics more than most (capture territory to get more resources, so no turtling allowed), but I've never been able to really immerse myself in any RTS's story mode. It's still fun though.

I can't really say which you should do but I'd say do Clear Sky second or last. I guess I'd probably go for R6 - it's probably the shortest. I'm thinking you'll want to do the shorter games first so you don't forget about them at the end.

Company of Heroes hands down.

World War 2 might be overdone in terms of the gaming genre, especially in the FPS arena but Company of Heroes is much different. In my opinion, the best RTS around successfully introducing several extremely good and realistic things into the RTS genre (Supply Lines, Cover, directional armour, chance to disable/damage vehicles ie. destroy main gun or damage engine).

The Campaign is superb. Computer generated movies with compelling narrative are punctuated by animation from the ingame engine to create atmosphere and the tactical overlay of mission objectives immerses you into the game, making you feel more like a Commander receiving orders. The multiplayer community is strong and well developed so whether its singleplayer or multiplayer, you are well catered for.

After TA, CoH is the best RTS I've ever played and does bring some new things to the genre.

Stalker is good, just not like pretty much anything you've played and will take longest to learn.

I've only recently picked up RV1 and RV2 so can't talk about them.

COH contains Securom, is extremely buggy and crashes a lot. It is also, in my humble opinion, one of the best RTS's ever produced.

I'd say Company of Heroes first, so that you keep the best for the end.

never had a problem with CoH crashing or being buggy.

All good games you have there. I haven't finished Clear Sky yet. It was causing me problems so I stopped playing it for awhile. maybe I should try it again.

CoH is really good but got pretty difficult later on.

My friend and I still play Vegas 2 co-op and liked the SP.

Vegas 2 is decent although not enough of an upgrade over Vegas 1 IMO. The SP campaign is quite fun. I'd probably play this if you are just looking for some quick gaming in the middle of other things, as you can sort of launch it and blast away a level or two quick. Then again you can get into the campaign and run through half the game in a night.

I bought Clear Sky a while ago but haven't played it much. It takes longer and harder to get into, but if it's like STALKER still I will get to it eventually and play nothing else for a couple of weeks.

While I am generally a fan of RTS games I didn't get into CoH much. I didn't give it a real chance though.

I agree with pontifex that they are all good games, and easily worth what little you paid. I voted Vegas 2 in the poll.

Company of Heroes is one of those great games that should be at least tried by any gamer, even if they don't normally like the genre that much. The other two games are bargain bin material that you should put on a shelf sometime for when you are bored and have nothing better to play.

I seem to disagree on Stalker with most of the posters, but the only reason I would recommend playing it at all would be if you previously played Stalker: Chernobyl. There are lots of good FPS games out there and there's no reason to waste time on a buggy game like Stalker that really doesn't bring anything special to the table. I'm also not a big fan of the limited movement/strategical FPS genre in general, so if that's your cup of tea then you may be willing to look further past the flaws then I was.

Hated Vegas 2, had some fun with Clear Sky, but Company of Heroes, as others have said, is an amazing game.
