You are only familiar with PCs yet are presented with a Mac to troubleshoot (or vice-versa). What would you do?

I am familiar with both and would not encounter this problem. If i truly had trouble troubleshooting a machine I would search ATOT for a solution to the problem.

What is more important: fixing problems or educating users? Explain your answer.

Educating Users. Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach him to fish and he eats for a lifetime.

Explain the advantage of having an Ethernet connection over a modem connection.

1) Speed. Ethernet lines are much faster than typical 56k modem connections and are usually networked to a DSL, Cable, T1, or other broadband connection.
2) Networking. Ethernet lines allow for networking between several computers for the purposes of data sharing, connection sharing, multiplayer gaming, and printer sharing.
3) Reliability. No one likes to be kicked off of AOL over and over again. Ethernet connections are always on and you are just one click away from the internet.
4) Ethernet is capitalized and modem is not.

Why should we hire you as a member of the Help Desk Team (i.e. what have you got to offer that has not been covered in this application)?

I am very dedicated, diligent, persistent, knowledgable, and hard-working. I stay up late working on a problem until I accomplish my goal. I can juggle knives, play the piano, cook, speak English, Spanish, and Russian nearly fluently, run fast, leap tall buidlings in a single bound, and perform other feats as deemed necessary by Help Desk employees. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns about my ability or availability.

I would hire me.

I wouldn't hire you, sorry! You didn't even answer the first question. That reminds me of one time I served on an interview panel and the question was: "Describe the last mistake you made and how you resolved the situation". His answer: "Mistakes are a product of poor planning, I'm a good planner, so I don't usually make mistakes."

WRONG FORUM 😛

Throw out the Mac and replace it with a PC. While I'm at it I'll probably throw out the Mac user, too.

What is more important: fixing problems or educating users? Explain your answer.

Fixing problems. My job will be to fix problems, and I make a living fixing problems. If I'm a fisherman, am I going to sell a man a fish or teach a man to fish? One will put money in my pocket, the other will put me out of business.

Explain the advantage of having an Ethernet connection over a modem connection.

An Ethernet connection will enable the users to download porn on company PC's faster.

Why should we hire you as a member of the Help Desk Team (i.e. what have you got to offer that has not been covered in this application)?

I'm not really interested in this job, I'm interested in your job. But this seems like a good place to start. By the way, I'm starting Monday.

Yes he did answer it:

If i truly had trouble troubleshooting a machine I would search ATOT for a solution to the problem.

The question posed a hypothetical situation in order to find out how the applicant learns about a foreign system.

Edit: Sorry 🙂 Straight to ATOT

ahahahahahahahahaha

Yeah, same form...I don't know if I remember anyone actually filling it out though. Send me a PM describing you: year, experience, resume if you have it, all that crap. I'm 99% certain I can get you that job.

i'm calling shens too, cause there's no way that you would actually answer these questions in this manner if you really wanted this job.
