So I installed Win2k on an old laptop not realising it only had 32MB of ram.

Even disabling almost every possible service I was only able to get the used memory down to 63MB.

Nice, I recently bought a laptop off of my friend and it was only equipped with 128MB of ram. Programs using swap files is quite possibly the worst experience I've ever had in using a computer. I don't understand how I've lived with smaller memory configurations before 512MB became standard.

Needless to say, I upgraded that laptop to 256MB total, and win2k likes me again.

w00t got a 128MB SODIMM of PC66 SDRAM off ebay for $32 shipped. not bad! 2k still takes forever to boot though. but once it's started it's fast now. gonna install XP and see if the boot time increases. This is a P2 266MHz btw. :Q

too bad the windows install inself is taking up 2/3 of the 2GB HD. :-/
