Yep, the Mayor of Charlotte spoke at a 10th anniversary business luncheon today for a friend of my dad's. He wanted to illustrate the difference between 'support' and 'committment' so he told a familiar Southern anecdote to the crowd of 300 in attendance.
"To understand the difference between support and committment, think about your breakfast [bacon and eggs]," he said. "The chicken supports your breakfast, but the pig is committed!"
No one laughed. Of course, it would help if the mayor knew that of the crowd of 300 Indian-American businessmen in attendance, 98% are vegetarian.
