So I heard a noise in my back yard...

The last one isn't that bad. It's not easy taking a picture while the thing is moving around in a tree 20 feet above you.

No, the bullet hole through it's ear. Racoons are a nuisance and if they are that near you house they can cause a mess. Shoot the damn thing already. They are cute, but they have a mask for a reason....they are thieves and will mess up all kinds of stuff if you allow them.

I've seen raccoons around here occasionally for years. They haven't caused any problems yet. If they start causing problems i'll deal with them.

Seriously, why do people hate these animals? Just because they open your garbage cans? Is this enough of a reason to shoot and kill them?

I don't hate them, they are actually quite cute, but they are a nuisance. I used to have some problems with them at my lake house and after I shot one they all stopped coming around. I guess they are not stupid. I was just being harsh earlier as I don't shoot anything any more, old age has a way of tempering you.
