I typically try to upgrade my computer when a 'revolutionary' gpu emerges, so it can stand the test of time...or at least something that is a pretty decent jump over the current generation...

Is anything launching next year going to fit that mold (i am getting the itch to upgrade), or anticipated to fit it? Thanks.

Maxwell is supposed to launch next year, and that's the next big thing from NVidia.....GPU wise at least.

The Mantle API is revolutionary.
It ll mean you ll be able to play some AAA titles on non Windows OS's.

also that TrueAudio stuff.....

Depends on how big a impact mantle makes, but it sounds like it be a big deal.

Next card at 20nm are still about a year away, late in 2H of 2014.
What is maxwell bringing thats revolutionary? the ARM co-proccessors stuff?
What will that be used for?

***nvm found it: http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/cpu/di...ave_Integrated_ARM_General_Purpose_Cores.html

Arm co-proccessors to help with GPGPU stuff.
So newer maxwell cards will just be able to do that type of workloads faster than current stuff.

Meanwhile AMD is doing stuff thats revolutionary in a way that enhances your gameing experiance.
