So I haven't had any soda in a week...

Or any overly-sweetend beverage for that matter. My original goal was a week... now I'm pushing for a month. Who knows what from there.

Last Sunday night I decided to just stop drinking it. I would drink at least a few cans a day, and sometimes as many as 3 20oz bottles at work. I work third shift, so I felt the need to in order to stay awake. I've managed to make it through the nights on some fresh brewed tea.

I've mostly been drinking water and this crystal light stuff, it's pretty much 0 everything... 10 calories/bottle, not a great source of vitamins that I don't get elsewhere, but whatever.

I have a bad feeling that I'm going to get sick of it real soon. Any suggestions on what else I could drink that is not really sugary? V8 doesn't taste very good, otherwise I'd give that a whirl.

My drink of choice has been unsweetened iced tea for over 20 years. Make some at home and take it in a jug with you to work. V

You could try 7up Plus supposedly a less unhealthy pop, however contains some fake sugar.

Just drinking a lot of water should solve the problem of staying awake, you'll be making trips to the bathroom every twenty minutes. :)

Seriously though, I drink a lot of water, gatorade, this stuff called naked juice which is really good for you, also a lot of protein drinks, but I lift weights every day, mainly the reason for the stuff I drink.

Just trying to give you ideas :)

I usually do get plenty of sleep. But if you've ever worked third shift you know that you never get used to it. The human body just wasn't meant to be nocturnal.

I've had some of that before and it doesn't seem that bad for you, but aside from the sugared drinks, I'm trying to avoid carbonated drinks. Going with a diet soda just seems like it would make me give up or something. I just think it would be like the people who try to stop smoking by starting off smoking less and eventually convince themselves "Ah, one more this hour won't hurt!"

i'm not a fundie, but i'm skeptical as hell about fake sugar. i have the same problem, i don't like water with meals, so i switched to unsweetened tea. it's not bad with a meal, but by itself it's not too great, so i drink water then.

and juice is healthy, in a way. but take a glass of OJ (8 oz): 120 calories, all carbs. not bad, but that's a lot for just 8 oz. eat an orange + glass of water.

Sitting on your rump and neffing isn't quite the same as a labor-intense job. ;)
Out of curiosity, do you go to bed at 8am and sleep until a few hours before the sun begins to set?

I've resorted to grabbing spare towels, blankets, whatever and covering my windows so that little or not light seeps through or I just can't sleep for long during the day. I have it to the point where I have to push them aside to know if it's still light out or not. :)

nah, i mean, academically i do my best work at night, when it's quiet and relaxing. then i go to 8 am class if i have one and come back and sleep. i think its just something you get used to. i can fall asleep faster at 11 am than 11 pm, even with no cover over the window.
