I've got four books I have to read.

one is 99 pages.

The others are around 300 pages.

I have to have them read by tomorrow.

They are all about the same thing.

I figure I will read the 99 page book straight out ... and then the other books I will skim/speed read...

Any tips? Will this work?

I somehow just need to know enough to discuss them with my Professor on Monday...

i've been in a similar situation for an oral final.

have you discussed the books in class at all? it was much more helpful for me to go over my class notes, and lightly skim all the books. then you can just throw the professor's words right back at him, and he'll think you know your sh!t.

Nope, independent study. So no one else has read these books, and NEITHER has my professor! (I went out and found these books on my own).

Hence, thats why I'm going to read the 99 page book, and then do some research online on the topic (just so I get a fundamental understanding of the issue (PS: its the "Decolonization of Africa")). Then, the other three books I will just spend about 30 seconds per page (Would come to about 7 and a half hours!) reading through so I get a basic understanding of all of this...

We discussed the independent study in the beginning of the semester and I chose this Monday.

IF I HAVE to reschedule I can. I really just need to formulate an opinion by Monday...

I've put tons of shiat off until the last minute. But those were amateur efforts compared to this. Congratulations! :p

Seriously. The lethargy and outright arrogance towards responsibility that some of you display on a consistent basis truly amazes me.

Clearly, I have been outclassed.

I yearn to learn from you, my masters:D

I could easily do 1,000 pages of reading over a couple days for fun, but I'd rather not for anything else. Good luck :p

Stick the books under your bed so you can absorb the information while sleeping. Oh just kidding.

I don't know...perhaps Cliff Notes. They have a web site, as well.

I could knock off 1000 pages of fiction in a day and a half.

A nonfiction work of that length would take me a week or so.

What are the books about? I could probably read one-thousand pages of history, useless trivia, or fiction in several hours. Economics or science would kill me though.

The key is to not read all the chapters. You can get a great idea of history by reading the first page of every chapter throughout the whole book. Take some notes and go back and read some chapters in more detail. Worked great for me. Helps you focus your reading where it's actually needed.

OMG me, too...1151 pages to be exact (though spread out over 7 books). HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Procrastination FTW!!!

I also have to write 45 pages of essays, and do a powerpoint/oral.
