...I figured I should let you all know about it. It's kind of cute actually. Just sittin' there, chillin. It's like it's lookin up at me and is like "......sup..." all smug-like. So I'm like, "Don't worry little dude, you're gonna get covered in acid tonight and you won't be smug anymore, will you."

And I was thinking while I was posting this, what causes a wart to manifest on my skin? Me not having the ability to look this sort of info up at work, I was wondering if the collective has any ideas for me. 🙂 Thanks.

Update....just cause you asked. 🙂 Sorry Herman...

Dunno, but man it's bad when you have to remove them. You have to get rid of the skin on top, then get all the bits out from underneath as well 🙁

I dunno...last time I had a wart, I used like a wart remover pad thing. And one day, the pad just pulled the wart off my skin. No hurt at all. It wasn't so bad. I'm trying to same thing again, so I'll see.

WARNING!!!

WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T GO TO JEWISH OLD DERMATOLOGIST, I went to one couple years ago instead of burning them, he cut them off and left scars for rest of my life

couple weeks ago I had serious pus infection different old jewish dermatologist injected styroid in each pimp, it made it even worse until i went to italian dermatologists who gave me course of antibiotics and everything went away

I think old jewish dermatologists have a conspiracy against my skin

Just go to the Dr. They take this really cool dry ice stuff out of a cannister and dip a swab into it and burn it off. My fiance got some on his hands, he thinks from lifting weights, and that's how he got rid of them!

Thanks for all the wonderful advice, but I don't want to know how to get rid of it. I'm more interested in knowing what causes it and how it develops under the skin. 😀

Also, I have this fascination/fetish of feeling the texture of (most) things with my lips. Particularly the head of this wart. Think it'll spread.

*anecdote* yes, I'm a little odd. I used to have a stuff mouse whose tail was all rough at the end and I used to rub that on my lips when I was younger.

warts on fingers, people drooling in their sleep...what the heck is going on around here!?!?!?

and how can a wart be cute!?!?!!? you are weird. 😛

The virus that causes a wart resides deep in your tissue below the wart. There are tons of things that can remove the wart, but unless you cut out all the tissue underneath (and I mean a lot of tissue must be removed), the virus will not be cleared. Thus the wart may likely return.

just wrap the finger in duct tape!

its been proven to work.

This is actually true. I read an article on the paper that said some institution (EDIT Its the U.S. Army 😀) did a study on duck tape vs. the freezing method, and the duct tape method was much faster and the chances of it coming back were very little compared to the freezing method.

link
Focht had 26 subjects aged 3 to 22 years treat their warts with the duct tape method, where the growth was covered for six days then soaked with water and the dead tissue rubbed off. Twenty-five others underwent up to six treatments of cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen.

The duct tape method worked for 85 percent of the patients, while cryotherapy was effective for 60 percent.

Take a potato, slice it in half. Throw one half away. Rub the wart with the remaining half, dig a hole in the ground and put it there. *not looking back*

Sounds stupid, but it helped me to get rid of the wart on the knee when I was a boy 😱 I swear it just disappeared in a few days.

Warts can be contagious and annoying, but eventually will go away by themselves with the body creating an immunity.

I have a wart on my finger, too. Maybe we're finger wart twins?

which hand/finger is your wart on?

I am hesitant to get rid of the little ah heck, too. One day I noticed it was there and was kinda grossed out. I showed my wife and she said that warts were the price I had to pay for marrying a Pagan. But now I've kind of grown accustomed to the little guy.

Either that or I'm too cheap to buy some Compound-W and get rid of the thing.

My wife swears it'll come back if I do.

Wart are slow growing viruses that grow under your skin.
Eventually Our body learns how to fight them and they usually resolve by themselves. Sometimes they last for 1-2 years.
Doctors usaully treats them if they are painfull or if the patient are disturbed by there appearance.

Freezing (liquid nitrogen) or those over the counter wart removers irritate the area inducing a local inflammatory response to the area. This infalmation brings our immune systems attention to the virus and eventually our own immune system kills them.

you can aslo currete them out but you have to go down deep to reach the blood supply

Virus is called Verrucae Vulgaris there are aslo different kinds of warts and different kinds of viruses
peace

Coool. My wart is on my right ring finger on the 1st metacarple (sp?). It is on the side of my finger so that when my fingers are pressed together it touches my middle finger. He's all warm and stuff in between my fingers. It doesn't really bother me beacuse no one really looks between my finger.s until someone wants to hold my hand and put their fingers in mine. Then they get all grossed out and I don't want that. So it's either him.....................or...me?? No, he's GOT to go.

can you post a pic of it?

I sure could. When i get home for lunch in about 30 minutes, i'll take a quick pic and post it. 😀 Didn't think you guys could be that interested. I was wrong.

I had a wart on my finger. I kept cutting the top layer off and it sometimes bled a little. This caused the virus to spread to my adjoining finger. I got annoyed and finally went to a dr. She used a can of compressed air to "treat" it.

She held the can upside down and sprayed it a few times which caused it to freeze. She said I'd need a couple of follow up treatments if it came back. (it blisters after the freeze BTW don't mess with it just let the skin dry up, don't bandage)
I said screw that and just did it myself. Both warts died in a couple of weeks with just a couple more home treatments.

I could do this, but I'd rather burn it off with acid. It's much cooler sounding and the idea of freezing my skin frightens me more so than the acid. 😀

When I was young I had a wart on my finger, and I thought it was cool, so, knowing that warts are caused by a virus, I actually cut out samples of the wart tissue and placed them under the skin on other parts of my hands, thereby giving myself more warts. I always used to pick at them, which was amusing, but eventually the entertainment value wore off so I got rid of them.

I guess I'm lucky... but..

When I was 12 or so, I got a sore on my right hand.. (the side where the pinky is) I kept picking at it and biting it and it eventually turned into a wart. Well.. I kept biting it and picking it and it would come halfway off then grow back even bigger..

So, I decided to get a wart remover. After using it a few days, I just ripped it off quickly and the whole wart came off - roots and all... So then I had another sore to play with on my hand. This time, however, I soaked it in rubbing alcohol.

Then, I put a bandaid on it and never messed with it again. Now there's not even a trace of it on my hand.
