What should I get? I am already getting Crysis bundled. My choices are

COD4: Modern Warfare

or a couple Steam games because I don't have HalfLife Episode II, and I would throw in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

I am totally incapable of making my own decisions :)

COD4 is $40 at CC with a $10GC if you get there quick.

Orange box will be $25 at BB for the friday sale.

I don't see the advantage of getting "The Orange Box", because I have most of the games already except the former mentioned HLE2, and Portal (which I don't care about)

Thanks for the heads up on CC for COD4, I'm gonna look there now. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. looks really good, and all of the games I mentioned can be DL thru Steam.

COD 4 is great multiplayer. I'm slightly disappointed with the single player campaign. It definitely has its cool parts (AC-130 mission was badass) but seems too boxed in.

Stalker! COD4 is sweeeet graphics, but been there done that gameplay. Stalker is actually different than any other FPS. I'd put Bioshock neck and neck with COD4. Stalker is far and away more original, if you can allow yourself the time to actually get into it.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Especially now, cause you can patch it to get rid of some issues. (Like the serious lack of accuracy on the early weapons! Arrghh!)

Then get Bioshock.

Call of Duty 4 is amazing. STALKER is good too, especially if you could also get a decent Steam game like Red Orchestra. I might take those two over CoD4 if you don't already have them. All awesome games, though.

Do you have to have it "tomorrow"?
Does it have to be a buggy new release, or can it be a thoroughly patched classic?

The best classic strategy and RPG games have TONS of user created scenarios and add-on material, so just one properly choosen game (one you like regardless of the types of games your friends rave on about) could, in theory, provide you with hundreds (read: 200 to 2000) of hours of riviting entertainment.

I have spent $50 on SEVERAL (read: many many) $5-$10 specials, this past summer. Some via gogamer 48-hour specials, some at Target clearance prices, one at Half Priced Bookstore. I still have not played through half the pile, and I still occasionly add to the pile.

Bioshock and Orange Box. CoD4 is awesome, but not better than all the games you get with bioshock and OB.

STALKER offers an awesome experience and is my choice of GotY [so far];

HOWEVER ... if you don't like "RPG elements" ... forget it; although it "plays" like a FPS it is really a RPG at heart
