So i have one of those visa gift cards.....

I want to buy something on Newegg that is $78, but my giftcard only has $40 on it, and AFAIK, newegg wont accept multiple forms of payment (i.e. two cards).

I called up the GC company and was told I could only use the card at a point of sale, and i couldnt withdraw the money.

What im thinking now is to paypal my business account using the creditcard and take the $1.50 fee (which i dont care about).

Would that work?

I have the same situation, although I have 278 left on the card...I'd love to have it in cash, but it wouldnt' be too hard for me to find something to spend it on

Its a PITA. I tried to use it for $40 tickets the other day but it came back denied. Bastards say it pre-authorizes $1 everytime you use it, so i can never use the full amount on there.

Rather than have the hassle of running it down, then being stuck with whatever is on it, im thinking i might just buy a money order with it.

Except for you cannot purchase MO's with credit (which trust me a visa gift card is considered credit not debit).

Find someone who works in retail. I know someone who works in retail, I give her my $100 gift card, she charges $100 and gives me $100 cash.
