so i have jury duty in 1.5 hours...

i dont mean what kind of clothes should i take with me...they said i might be there for 7.5 hours just sitting in a room (courthouse by the way, no electronics allowed 🙁)
 
Are you told in advance what kind of trial it will be? I'd presume they would in case you object to certain trials, or if you had background information in this one or a connection to those trialed.
 
they do NOT tell us what kind of trial its going to be...

they might tell us 20 mins after we get there that they dont need us anymore and send us home.
they might need us to come back everyday until the trial itself is over.
 
If they ask you about drug use... Say it should be legalized. I was dumb and didn't say that. Half the jurors were dismissed. Lucky for me it was a quick trial.
 
is there anything negative that can happen to me for deliberately being dismissed? (like saying i'm racist, or saying drugs should be legalized, etc...)?
 
Just basically sound like a whacko one way or another, as long as you don't say anything threatening, you should be out of there shortly.

Just say, whoever, it is, whatever the crime you think they should get the death penalty and you will get out of it ^_^

so i'm BACK! they dismissed us after 2.5 hours of sleep, err... sitting there. Nobody got selected today. fooey, i really wanted to suggest the death penalty too...

Were a nuse around you neck and a shirt that says "Guns don't Kill People, I Kill People" or "Guilty, Guilty, Guilty." Give the defendent a hate stare everything he looks at you.
 
Lucky you!! I had jury duty last month - a case about Chicago cops and embezzling $$$$ and drugs. Got there at 9 am, jury selection did not end until 8 pm. I was so so lucky not to be selected for a 4-5 WEEK trial!!! I didn't even get interviewed. (those that did and got dismissed told some weird sh$t to the judge!!) At the end there were 6 people left (including me), and they called 3/6 to get the last 2 jury members!!! After all that I could just walk away...Got the $17.xx though.

I work for the government. If I get jury duty, I think it might be interesting... and I get paid either way, so....
