So I have a job interview today...

I saw a craigslist posting about telemarketing job paying $10-$20 hr, and they needed to fill positions asap. I dropped them an email, they told me to call them at a number with an area code same as mine. When I asked what company this is, they said "Artisan" something, located near the Woodfield mall (a popular mall here), and they didn't have a website.

Googling them didn't show anything. I have an interview today at 3:30. When I had called them, there was a lady who answered the phones, and the manager dude said when I come, to either ask for Gary or John.

Anything suspicious here?

I would be concerned about wanting a telemarketing job. You cant find anything better?

it is probably just a creepy little office with a bunch of tables and phones.

The telemarketing gig I worked at (for 4 hours before quitting) was like that.

Yeah, there was one of those that opened where a used cd store used to be. They'd pay anyone that walked in off the street or so the sign said and I did occasionally see homeless inside.

Telemarketers have to be the most hated profession out there, even more than lawyers and car salesmen. I think I would rather do janitorial work for the same money than subject myself to that kind of torture. At leaset then I could be alone with my own thoughts and do my own thing without someone watching over me.

If a telemarketer reaches me, I tell them "no, he's busy at the moment. I think he's taking a dump."

Then I hang up.

i like the new systems they seemto all be using now... it dials the number and connects you to them when you answer, but there is a delay before they get the call. when i notice that pause, i say hello? then goodbye! and hang up. if they cant talk to me right then, they cant talk to me.

i despise telemarketers. one of my good friends wrote programs for a huge telemarketing company here in arizona, i kept trying to get him to sabotage it to die at a future point automatically. he wouldnt do it.

Any Craigslist listing with the title "AWESOME JOB" is probably anything but that.

It also probably requires you to be touched in your bathing suit area.

I've always had a rule in life that any job that advertises in all caps with money in the title is not somewhere I probably want to work. It has served me well so far.

I had a friend who worked as a telemarketer for a couple months... she quit because the supervisor was constantly on her ass about not selling enough, despite that she got instantly hung up on on every single call.
